I try to stay on top of technology without sweating the details. I shop, I blog, and I keep up with my TLA’s. (three letter acronyms). When this phone was released, I was understandably excited. I bought the display model from CompUSA before they got it out of the box for $699 in August of 2007. (it’s an N95-1, the “real” original N95)
Here’s what I’ve figured out since then:

1: You MUST have faith in Nokia and flash the firmware as it gets released (but not when it’s still beta). Every time I do, I find new bells and whistles that I didn’t have before.

NEW OEM BlackBerry BOLD Desktop Charging Pod 9000 Review

The Blackberry Bold has an overheating issue when plugging into wall and or using the usb port in a computer. I purchased my bold on 12/26/2008 and when I charged it (using the included charging cord), it overheated. I was hot once I finished charging it and it became progressively hotter as time went on. So I removed the battery and placed it back in. It then cooled down but the battery was drained. I charged it again and had the same issue. I took it back to the AT&T store and let them feel it for themselves they could feel the heat right through the box. They replaced it but the same thing happened to the replacement. I called the store and they told me to call AT&T about this. AT&T told me that they knew nothing about this issue.

(AT&T) Samsung EPIX i907 cell Phone Review

My priority was a phone that would work with our Exchange 2007 system (without installing the Blackberry server and server certs), provide WiFi, let me dial one-handed without looking at the phone, and have usual fun goodies. In addition, I use a database app for the PPC, and this one handles it fine (Windcows Mobile comes in two versions - Smartphone and PPC; most phones run under the Smartphone edition but the EPIX adds the required touchscreen and stylus for full PPC apps).

Pros: Loaded with features: GPS, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, Exchange 7 compatible, WiFi, excellent voice dialing recognition, nice touchpad, great battery life, small enough to fit in the pocket, and keyboard allows one-handed dialing with some practice. Keys are small, but separation is adequate. Provides the higher-end WinMobile PPC rather than SmartPhone OS.

Rubberized Hard Plastic Case Cover Black for iPhone 3G Review

I think the other reviews are right on in their assessments of this case. It has a nice, smooth matte finish, though there is an extremely thin gap that causes a thin white line on the sides. Like others, I had a silicone case prior to this, but it stretched out after about a month and a half, so I searched for something less stretchy and came up with this.
I had been extremely careful after first purchasing the phone, but as happens, I have recently become a bit more careless in my handling of it. Still, I was terrified when I dropped it from about waist high the other day onto a hard tile floor. And I was relieved when my phone was perfectly fine afterwards. I dropped it a second time last week, onto the same surface, and it again survived without a scratch. I took it with me to the gym last night and had it sitting up on a ledge on the elliptical machine. The machine started rocking a bit, and before I knew it, my phone had fallen from the top of my machine, hit the moving arm handles, and bounced off a neighboring machine onto the floor. I was terrified to see what had happened BUT (as you probably guessed from the 5-star review) the phone was perfectly fine! The case had come apart slightly on the sides, but was easily pressed back together. I shudder to think what my phone would look like now if I hadn’t had the case. And amazingly, the case is very inexpensive, and not bad-looking either!
UPDATE: I’ve now dropped this 3 times on the street outside, and had it flung against a wall. The phone still looks perfect and works like new!

I bought this phone 2 weeks ago, and I can tell you that is awesome, my previus phone was a cingular 8125 (QTEK 9100) which is a very nice cellphone too but not as cute as this one, the only thing that is missing in this unit is the Wi-Fi, everything else is fine, very fast, comes with Windows Mobile 6 Pro so you won’t need an update, the camera is 1.3MP which is quite good too.

Review for Motorola Mini USB Travel Charger for Motorola cellPhones

As an earlier review noted, plug in this charger and nothing happens. My Motorola RAZR doesn’t even see it. I ordered two; neither would charge my phone. (One of them rattled; something loose inside.) Contrary to what another review said, this charger is *not* the same as the one that came with my phone; though similar, it is not the same, and it has a different model number (see the label on the charger itself). I also ordered a car charger but I’m not going to risk using it on my phone. Did I return these items? No, I just threw them away, because at these prices, with shipping and handling both ways *not* refunded, I’d probably lose even more money returning them. (Too bad we can’t give a “0 star” rating.)

Nokia 6010 Unlocked Cell Phone U.S. Version Review

I’ve had my 6010 for years. It just never breaks down, never locks up, never goes wierd. I’ve fallen back to it several times, once after my blackberry became quirky, and once with an international phone. Originally, I purchased a much more expensive spiffy phone with camera, bells and whistles. I brought it back to exchange for this phone failing to get a clear line. I live in a poor reception area. The sales person said the signal would be better and there would be less hassels. He was right. I can always depend on this little fellow. It doesn’t look like much, but I am secure that my calls will happen when I want them to. This is a great back up, no headache phone.
