Review 1

I went into a store a few weeks ago just to look around and I saw a table with a few cell phones on it and decided to look into the pricing listed (this phone was listed as an upgrade for just $49.99). I wasn’t really sure I qualified but it looked good enough for $50 that it would be a nice upgrade to my old LG Shine.

What an understatement. Ok, this phone is not as capable as an IPhone. So what? You can get it for less money, it has fairly easy controls to operate it, and texting is very easy with it. I could not be happier with it and highly recommend this phone to anyone who wants an easy to use phone/texting combo.

Easily store many numbers and names for snap dialing to necessary people. When you need to talk this thing makes it easy for you to do so. I could not be happier with it. Didn’t I say that already.

Great phone. I cannot believe the list price. I find it to be perfect for my needs. I use it mainly as a business phone.

Look into this before you buy something a lot more expensive. If you can get a great phone AND save money, you then have nothing to lose but the price.

Review 2

I bought the Xenon to replace a Samsung Propel. I wanted a phone that would be easier to text with. The propel had a qwerty keyboard, but the keys were a bit small. The Xenon came along and grabbed my attention. Here are my thoughts on the LG Xenon.

Pros:
- The Xenon keyboard is easy to use, even for a guy like me with bigger fingers.
- The battery life is better than I expected (I don’t text all day though so your mileage may vary).
- The touchscreen works fairly easy and seems to respond decent enough for me.
- The screen is large enough to use the Internet for quick information without scrolling constantly.
- The phone is designed well and sleek.
- The phone really is superior to most others for Text Messaging.

Cons:

- The phone has some minor quirks that I’d like to see fixed. Ex: Having to enter your password to clear the entire call log is annoying.
- Since it is a touchscreen, you will want to buy a screen protector. I suggest a rubber protective case with the screen protector.
- If you do not use a data plan you may find yourself accidentally getting online. The work around for this is creating invalid profiles…

Even with the cons listed, I couldn’t drop the rating to 4 stars because the phone really is a good deal.
As always, I’d suggest visiting a retail store to try it out before purchasing to make sure it’s comfortable for you.

Review 3

All in all, it’s a pretty good phone. Touch screen is above average, but not as good as some of the others on the market (the samsung version of this and the iPhone are the only two I’ve used that are better, everything else is equal or less), keyboard is great for texting, reception and sound quality are great. Battery life is outstanding until you make a phone call, anything more than 20 minutes will drain the battery pretty quickly. If you don’t make any phone calls you shouldn’t have to charge it for a week, with calls maybe once every 2 to 3 days. The worse thing is that on occassion if you slam the phone shut the screen will turn off and you have to turn it off and back on again. This doesn’t happen often, but it does happen and is frustrating. Just don’t slam it!

Review 1

My teenage son found this phone and had to have it. He read about it online and liked the reviews, especially about the 3.2 MP camera. The first model one he wanted was not the C510a but a different letter model of the same phone. I called AT&T and they said to look for one with all four of the bandwidths that this model has, so we found this one on Amazon, checked for the bandwidths and bought it. It took more than a week to arrive but it was a good purchase because my son enjoys it. No one else has this phone in his group of friends and it was easy to just swap sim cards from his Krazr and call AT&T to register it. Of course now he’s on facebook with his phone and we had to add internet to our bill but he paid for the phone himself and he’s happy with it and it’s only an additional $10 a month for unlimited internet.
Review 2

This is a great low-cost Sony Ericsson phone. I’ve owned a lot of different phones in the past from the Samsung SGH-D900 (Black Carbon), Sony Ericsson W800i, Apple iPhone 2G, and Apple iPhone 3G. Compared to those phones, I would have to rate this phone just as good as those.

Physically the phone is built quite well. There is a slider which protects the camera lens and allows you to take photos when open. The phone has good reception (especially compared to my Samsung SGH-D900), the voices come through clear during phone calls, and the built in speaker has great sound (especially with MP3’s and other music.

Also the built in web-browser does a great job but I really must recommend that you download Opera Mini. Pages load in around 2 seconds in 3G or HSDPA (in Denver) it seems as opposed to the Sony Browser which takes around 5 seconds +. What I also like is that the text messages can be displayed in a conversational text which looks like instant messaging. Those familiar with the iPhone texting will be right at home with this.

The only few negatives I could think of is that the camera is only 3.2 megapixel, there’s no zoom on the camera unless you’re in VGA mode, there’s only an LED flash (no Xenon), and my IM (instant messaging) program was missing (I downloaded a new one).

Overall I’m going to have to rate this phone a 4 out of a 5. Mostly for it’s features and it’s price point.

I specifically ordered this memory card for my Blackberry Curve 8330 with two goals in mind.

1: Store videos and music on my phone
2: Expanded memory for applications and documents

On both counts I have not been let down! This card is wicked fast when it comes to file transfers via the Blackberry software. I had expected, indeed planned, for a bit of a “hit” when using the RIM software to expedite file transfers (play lists, music, and videos) but if there is one I am not seeing it.

The included adapter is a handy add on bonus as I do have quite a few microSD cards lying around and can now use those for other devices that accept SD cards.

Oh, and it IS a Class 6 card.

Review 2

My overall view of the Transcend MicroSD card is that the product itself is good; however, the adapter that comes with it is not HC compatible. I have contacted Transcend directly about this shortfall and they are replacing the adapters as we speak. I do not blame the vendor that sold the card as the package was sealed and it was not a pirated version of the product. There are many different products available through the Amazon website that are also not HC compatible but sold with high capacity markings. If I were to purchase more cards from Amazon.com I would ensure the vendor tested the functionality with HC cards before I ordered them or allowed them to be shipped to me. I suggest dealing direct wth the manufacturer for these VERY FAST MicroSD Cards as they are now available directly on their website.

Review 3

I purchased the Transcend 8 GB micro sd card for my G1. It was important to have a class 6 card for its minimum upload/download speeds. It does exactly what the company says it can do. The price is very competitive if not better because of all the features. Space is very plentyful for a wide range of uses i.e. YouTube videos, MP3’s and data storage. The adapter is a huge bonus…it will accept other manufacture micro sd cards.

2 Different Review

Review 1

The Nokia N86 is like a rare, good sequel to a great summer movie. Loaded with enough technical features to give almost any smartphone user a migrain, this new addition to the N-series comes with, among other typical smartphone features, a large 8MP camera sensor, an FM transmitter, a high capacity battery (1200mah) and a beefy, 128mb RAM.

Nokia has been cramping more and more features into their smartphones ever since the introduction of the N95 two years ago. Physically, the N86 does not appear to be any more compact than the N95. But aside from the additional gimicks mentioned earlier, the N86 also has an additional internal 8GB flash memory and a digital compass to work with its MAPS application. To calibrate the compass, you will have to rotate the phone in two different axes when the MAPS application is active. The N86 has the same double-sliding form factor as the N95, but the front surface of the N86, unlike the N95, is all glass. The control buttons on the top will take a while for anyone to get used to, as other than the C (cancel) button, there is no indication as to what they do.

The N86 also uses AMOLED for its display, as compared to older N-series models, making the system more power efficient and allows users to stay unplugged for a longer time. Unfortunately, AMOLED displays can’t stay on all the time like LCD displays. Therefore, you will have to rely on the “breathing” menu button LED to tell you if there is a missed call or an SMS.

Also, for the first time (for an N-series), the USB 2.0 connector for the N86 lets you charge the phone while you’re transferring music / images / videos in or out of the phone.

Perhaps the best thing about the N86 is its sheer speed compared to earlier N-series models. Personally i don’t see the point of having a phone that can do everything, but can’t even keep up with a 70-dollar phone when it comes to doing text messaging or taking pictures. The N86, coupled with the 128MB RAM, allows it to be more responsive than earlier N-series models, so it doesn’t feel like a convoluted, heavy mass in your pocket. Other N-series models, like the N96 or the N95, are just trying too hard to do too many things at the same time without the RAM to handle all the tasks.

As I’m typing this review, I have loaded over 4000 tracks into my N86, thanks to the microSD expansion slot that accepts 16Gb cards. How I wish the phone could accept more. Thanks to the increased speed, the N86 does not slow down even when it is loaded with so many music files. My N82 and N96 refused load the tracks when i go to the user menu to select my ringtone when i loaded 4000 songs into them, but the N86 was more than happy to display all 4000 tracks plus all the midi and aac tunes preloaded in the device for me to choose as the phone’s ring tone.

The 8 MP camera won the TIPA award for best imaging phone in 2009, and it is quite obvious why. Striking a balance between file size and picture quality, the N86 produces exceptionally clean pictures during the day, and the built-in flash, although LED only, performs better than most N-series models with LED flash. Lagging is quite minimal for such a feature packed phone, and the video recording quality is on par with every high-end N-series out there.

The FM transmitter works with the music player to broadcast music to any nearby FM radio. As such, you no longer have to worry about not being able to share you music with people that don’t use bluetooth enabled car stereos or stereos that don’t come with line inputs. You can now play your music through any car stereos or stereos that receives FM broadcast from 87.5Mhz to 108Mhz.

Unfortunately for the N86, the new-agey chassis and GUI design will take a bit of getting used to. It is a bit loud (especially the white version), and looks funny if you take it out of your pocket during a business lunch. Also, the presence of the USB charging ability means Nokia is not obliged to give you a proper charging port, which will force some of you to go out and buy a new car charger or spare charger as the N86 does not have a standard or mini Nokia charge port. The battery can only be charged through the USB connector, like the Nokia 8600 Luna. It is however nevertheless a speedy and powerful multimedia device and a great upgrade over many of the N-series models.

Review 2

I am not an expert, just a regular guy who buys a new phone every year because I like toys.

This phone has all of the important features I need on a phone. I have had other Nokia phones and this combines all of the great features and adds some that were not present. For example:

1. 3.5mm Headphone jack. No more need for an adaptor for a 2.5mm.
2. Bigger screen. I guess 2.6 is not comparable to other phones like the iPhone’s 3.5, but this does not have a touchscreen interface. I can still text without looking using the keypad.
3. The AMOLED display is rediculously clear and vibrant. My wife is using my Nokia E51 and the difference is stunning.
4. 8 gb of storage plus microSD. This is more memory than I could fill up right now.
5. This phone is also much faster than my E51. it takes less than 1/2 second to access any application once selected.
6. Scratch resistant screen.
7. The phone is well built, feels solid, a little heavy, but strong.
8. The battery life is exceptional. I have used the camera for three days taking pictures, video, listening to music while I run etc. and still have 2 bars left.
9. The speakerphone is LOUD. I can have my windows down on the BQE commuting to work and still here the callers over the traffic noise.
10. Font sizes are adjustable and can be made noticably larger. I hate phones with tiny fonts.

I can go on and on.

My only concern is the camera. The video capability is great but I have been experimenting with the image quality and I don’t think it is as good as Nokia will have you believe. The 8MP camera takes 8MP pictures, but they come out dark indoors even at close range with the flash. Outdoors they are as good as you would expect from an 8MP camera , and hopefully they will release the firmware update enabling face detection that has been rumored.

Also, the notification light for missed calls, messages, and emails is kind of weak. My E51 would scream with vibrancy lighting up my bedroom at night, where the N86 is more of a whisper.

I would reccomend this phone for many reasons.

Review :

The main reason this phone has been bought is that it supports two sim cards. I have tested it in US and abroad, it worked fine and recognized my two SIM cards from US and also the two SIM cards abroad. The screen is very clear and bright with great color definition, the sound quality also is good. The only negative point is that it is pretty big and no way to protect the screen from scratches, need to be very careful what is kind of dificult due to high usage. Took some pictures and they are not great but acceptable. It also accepts memory card but this has not been tested so far.

This is among the hottest selling mobile phones around the world! The Unlocked Star/Tocco Lite cell phone by Samsung is packed with features. It is far more intelligent, making it the ultimate companion that is always one step ahead. It features gesture lock, wherein unlike a standard or average phone, which unlocks to the main menu every time, you can unlock the Star to a designated menu, by simply writing the letter associated with it on the touch screen. The Star also has an accelerometer sensor, which means no matter which way you hold it, it will adjust the screen so the content is readable, this is ideal for horizontal or vertical cases and even your pocket, in that sometimes you may pick up your cell phone backwards/sideways. In addition to the ease of use, it features handwriting recognition, which allows you to write on the screen as an alternative to pushing buttons. The Samsung S5230 is not only a star for namesake, but it also turns anyone into a star with its 3.15 megapixel camera which takes pictures when a smile is detected, so you’ll always have that Mona Lisa-like smile in every photo.

Samsung S5230 comes with the latest multimedia features in a slim and compact body that measures a mere 11.9mm.
Review 1

Simple, easy to use cell phone with attractive interface. My son who is just 11 loved it.

Review 2

I got this phone for my husband and it’s his favourite new gadget. One thing is that the phone did not come with a protective film and one had to be purchased separately. I would recommend keeping it in a case for extra prtotection.

Review 1

The battery life is nearly twice that of the N96. Granted, I’m not in a 3G coverage area (it’s not even supported in the US for this phone, just EDGE), but I can last at least 2 days per charge with heavy browsing, music listening, and “messing around” for a few hours, on this device.

Symbian S60 is an awesome OS, but it is beginning to show its age (especially after coming from an iPhone). However, Symbian is my favorite OS by far, but perhaps that is largely biased by my “geeky” figure-it-out-as-you-go nature. Now, it isn’t HARD to use, it’s just not as user friendly as some of the newer, more mainstream devices are. And this isn’t a problem at all for me. The third party app. development for S60 is strong as ever. Immediately after unboxing, I installed both a p2p and a torrent app. This is a pretty amazing and convenient feature, for a phone. Granted, I have not used Windows Mobile, but I’m sure there are similar apps available for that as well. However, finding and installing those apps was very easy and non-problematic on the i8510’s S60 OS. Not to mention, there are thousands of more useful apps available for your perusal (but they may take some effort to find; there is no “App Store” for easy-as-biscuits app-discovery and installation).

The hardware on this phone is amazing. It has an optical mouse for true, PC-like web browsing. Long gone are the days of using a 4-way directional pad for choppy and slow browsing on the included WebKit browser. With the optical mouse, the web is smooth and flowly to browse. And the sensitivity is easily alterable as per your own personal preference. I opted to increase the sensitivity vastly, which makes it even easier to use. Unlike most high-end Nokia phones (excluding some of the E-series), a good amount of hard, sexy metal is employed in the device design. This both makes it very sturdy as well as visually and tactically appealing to the fingers. Perhaps one of the few things Apple does right is incorporate metal into their devices; the new Macbooks being a prime example. I am very happy that this is being more generously applied to other electronics by other manufacturers now, and I hope it continues.

The camera is insatiable. It is 8 megapixels, which is high, but as they say, megapixels aren’t everything. This is true. However, the camera quality is basically unrivaled in the phone arena. Some Sony Ericsson models aren’t too shy of equality in this matter, and I think most of them have Xenon flash (which is amazing). Unfortunately the i8510 does not use Xenon, but LED flash instead. This is definitely acceptable, but for its price tag one would expect the highest of standards to be employed. The Nokia N82 is a very, very close second contender for the “best” Camera-Smartphone in my opinion. And I have owned one previously. Onto more of the things this camera does superbly, it employs a mechanical shutter. This is both very safe for the internal lens, and very cool. When you initiate the camera app., the shutter opens automatically. When you are finished, it closes automatically. Beautiful.

Other insanely useful qualities include WiFi, GPS, an external memory slot, a removable battery, and a gorgeously large 2.8inch 16M color display. In comparison to the iPhone (it can hardly be resisted nowadays, sorry), it trumps it almost unanimously in all of these aspects, exclusive of WiFi. They are both equal. GPS, memory slot, and removable battery, on the other hand, are all destroyed on the iPhone by the i8510. The GPS chip in the iPhone is fine, except for the software on the device is severely limiting. There is no voice navigation. This is ridiculous for such a “premium” device. The S60 OS of the i8510 allows for employment of third party applications (and there are already a couple) which offer voice-assisted navigation. Some of them are even free. An external memory slot is greatly valuable in a mobile phone, which the iPhone does not offer. The i8510’s memory capacity is dramatically increased by this. I believe the highest capacity the device can “theoretically” (Samsung claims it is 16GB) support is 32GB. I have read a few reviews confirming tests with this result. Either way, 16GB + 16GB > iPhone 4/8/16GB. Not to mention the cards are hot-swappable; you can use more than one flash card and basically claim unlimited capacity in the i8510, only limited by the number of cards you have laying around. This is quite cool. A removable battery is something that has long plagued the iPhone for it not having one. You are free to modify and change it when you see fit. If you start seeing noticable decreases in battery performance, buy a new one. Hell, keep the old one as a spare fully-charged unit for when you are on a long trip. Just this trick alone beats the user-limiting non-removable battery of the iPhone. Apple is known for being quite restrictive of their consumers’ freedoms. Symbian S60 is the exact opposite, and the hardware on the i8510 agrees as well.

Having DivX support is a plus, although XviD support would have been nice as well. Why stop at plain old DivX? There have also been reports of certain DivX encodings not working at all on the i8510. I have yet to experience this, but please be aware.

The build of the i8510 is stellar. It feels fantastic in the hand; the pictures do not do the device justice. Again, it incorporates a large amount of metal, both apparent in the back of the device and the keypad, as well as other key highlight locations. It is an extremely sturdy and durable design; there are no creaks or cracks/pops when you fondle the device. On my old Nokia N82 I heard all sorts of cracks and creaks when handling the device; this is the complete opposite on the i8510. Samsung really did a phenomenal job with the construction of the unit. I imagine the device can take a fair amount of abuse before showing any audible signs of it.

One small issue concerning the display is its lack of respectable readability in strong rays of sunlight. Many high-end Nokia models with similar (but admittedly lesser) specifications employ screens which are much more readable in direct sunlight than the i8510. Granted, I don’t imagine most users will find themselves blinded by sunlight, but maybe that’s just me. I seem to be taking more pictures at night (Xenon, please) than out and about in direct sunlight with my i8510.

Another area of note is the availability of software (firmware, specifically) updates for the i8510. I, and from most of what I’ve read so far, most other i8510 users are unsure of how often and how effectively Samsung will deliver firmware updates for the device. I know there are ways to update your phone to the more current firmware “unofficially,” but this has its risks. Granted, I do not see any current issues with my firmware that warrant an immediate and emergency firmware update, but that could very well be due to the vast amount of my dorkiness and contentness with the amazingness of the phone in its out-of-box state. Your mileage may vary. However, it can only get better with updates.

I am extremely pleased with this phone (it makes phone calls too?!). For me, the only thing I wish it had was US 3G capabilities. Again, I don’t live in an area with 3G access, but it would be nice if an investment of this stature warranted more longevity in my usage of it. EDGE data speeds are very, very acceptable for me though. Data-intensive web pages still load in a snap, and there is always the option of employing the WiFi chip for faster speeds, if applicable.

Aside from the 3G issue, everything else “wrong” with the device are very, very minute details. A lot of them are going to be remedied with firmware updates. On Samsung’s website, they claim an update to be due by the end of 2008 or Q1 2009. Very agreeable, in my opinion, given how new the phone is.

This phone is a winner, and should definitely be considered over all Nokia N-series devices, with exception of the Nokia N85. From there, it is personal preference, and the i8510 stands out as the clear top-end champion of the smartphone/cameraphone arena.

Review 2

I had the samsung innov8 for about 5 weeks now, and overall it’s a great phone. Wifi, 8MP camera…..plus many more features…trust me. Only few drawbacks i have to it, and that is some of the applications that would normally work with the Nokia 95/96 won’t work with this device because of certification issues, but still it’s not all of the apps, so personally it’s good enough for me, but just saying that.oh and i miss my QUERTY keyboard. Memory size is definitely not an issue, i use the 16 GB version and trust me…. that’s alot. The feel of the phone is good, has a nice feel in your hand. A lil optical scrolly mouse thing, can watch youtube videos from the actually youtube website (but other video websites just don’t work…) Well.. trust me there’s much more i can add, but not really can list all of the pros right now, but honestly it’s a good phone would recommend it for anyone who wants a good phone.

Review 3

An excellent phone. It is very user friendly and has many features. I love its ability to hold all of your contact infomation including street address. Also, the surround sound is amazing.

One drawback is the limited themes that work with this phone. Even when downloading themes compatible with S60, the theme works, but when you dial phone numbers in the particular theme, the numbers do not appear (ie. white numbers on a white background).

Product review:

Review 1

I sought a replacement for my Palm smartphone and after thorough research, decided on the HTC Ozone. I loved the phone: Lightweight, nice keyboard, good camera, great features, etc. After the first few days of owning the phone, the camera stopped working. When I brought the phone back to the Verizon store, the sales staff saw the problem and immediately replaced the phone with a brand new one. Now with a second brand new phone, a few days later, the same problem happened again. I did a hard reset, which completely wiped out everything (including my three downloaded apps), and the camera still didn’t work. I really wanted this problem solved because I love everything else about the phone, but I need a phone that works. I took it back. So after two weeks of owning two brand new HTC Ozone phones that stopped working, I’m switching to Blackberry.

I understand that Verizon has reported similar problems to HTC and they’re working on fixing it. Hopefully, by the time you read this, the problem will be solved and you’ll enjoy the phone.

Review 2

When upgrading from the Blackberry Curve, I had two phones in mind: the Blackberry Tour and HTC Ozone. The features of both phones are similar. However the differences were that the HTC Ozone had wifi and flash support. By downloading Skyfire, I am able to view or play embedded videos or music on practically any website. For example Youtube, CNET, or Cnn videos. With large amount of features and the ability to stream audio and video, battery life is something that needs to be monitored. Overall a wonderful cell phone that is similar to having a computer in my pocket.

Review :

I am using this device via an Executive trial courtesy of Verizon Wireless. First things first, it is 3G using a VzW SIM card. Not sure how available the SIM cards are, I am just reporting what I see when I looked under the “hood”. It came with a local (for me) phone number which makes the SIM card all the more impressive. This is a US based demo unit hopefully, signs of things to come for VzW. On to the hardware.

Windows Mobile is often found to be lacking when compared to the iPhone. Is this an iPhone killer? Yes, if you are a Win Mobile devotee. Things that have been a struggle in the past, the virtual keyboard are finally done right. Letter selection is confirmed with a gentle vibration while the selected letter zooms out. When using the browser or addressing email the virtual keyboard adds a .com button to save a you few keystrokes. Not convinced that a virtual keyboard is the best way to type, use the QWERTY keyboard that slides, and yes tilts on the device. Want to watch your favorite You-Tube video, the 3G speed coupled with the super high resolution screen offer a winning combination for doing just that. Email, texting no worries, the HTC Touch Flo interface offers elegant ways for you to read and send messages on the device. Want to take pictures? No worries as this device comes with an adequate 3.2 Megapixel camera. Do you want your contact book to be linked to Facebook? The software on the device provides this integration.

Other nice touches abound on the device. Web browsing for example is provided by either Opera or Pocket IE. The Opera browser stands head and shoulders above Pocket Explorer. The browser is easy to use and while you can’t zoom by “pinching” the screen, you can zoom by rolling your finger across the bottom of the screen. The phone itself presents a minimum number of buttons on the device, making it easy for one handed operation. The device is most intuitive to use proven by the fact that my demo came without a user guide or prerequisite install CD. Despite this missing documentation I was able to get up and running in no time.

A perfect Smartphone, no but then neither are any of the other 20 or so that I have used in the past 2 years. For example, it is certainly a bit beefy. In fact when compared to the Omnia Touch that I currently use, this phone is easily twice the weight and thickness. Would I buy it to use as my everyday phone…a resounding yes. Win Mobile is the OS I need to use based upon software requirements at my job. Of the Win Mobile devices I have used in the past this one is hands down the best.

Now if I could only figure out how to keep this device after the demo period…
