The Nokia 5310, aka “The Music Xpress”, is one nifty little phone! Sure, it’s no iPhone, but if you want something that got just about as many bells and whistles for a little less money, you want this phone.

The 5130 is available in purple, orange, red and blue (I own the purple). It’s very thin and small, but fits easily in the palm of your hand and doesn’t give the impression it’s going to fall apart if you look at it cross-eyed.

I try to stay on top of technology without sweating the details. I shop, I blog, and I keep up with my TLA’s. (three letter acronyms). When this phone was released, I was understandably excited. I bought the display model from CompUSA before they got it out of the box for $699 in August of 2007. (it’s an N95-1, the “real” original N95)
Here’s what I’ve figured out since then:

1: You MUST have faith in Nokia and flash the firmware as it gets released (but not when it’s still beta). Every time I do, I find new bells and whistles that I didn’t have before.

Nokia 6010 Unlocked Cell Phone U.S. Version Review

I’ve had my 6010 for years. It just never breaks down, never locks up, never goes wierd. I’ve fallen back to it several times, once after my blackberry became quirky, and once with an international phone. Originally, I purchased a much more expensive spiffy phone with camera, bells and whistles. I brought it back to exchange for this phone failing to get a clear line. I live in a poor reception area. The sales person said the signal would be better and there would be less hassels. He was right. I can always depend on this little fellow. It doesn’t look like much, but I am secure that my calls will happen when I want them to. This is a great back up, no headache phone.

LG enV2 VX9100 Phone, Black (Verizon Wireless) Review

I have a Voyager. I love it, but my wife has the EnV2 and it is a better well thought out phone.
(I have personally owned the V & EnV in the past)

The Voyager has two large displays. The screen on the inside is the same as the screen on the outside. I don’t think you need two large displays. That is where the EnV2 is a smarter phone. When the EnV2 is “closed” it works like a great phone. The buttons are big and the display is just the right size to display the numbers that you are dialing or displaying incoming calls.

If you want to use the multi-media functions of the phone (text, video, music etc.) go ahead and open the phone to get the large display and keyboard.

The biggest problem with the Voyager is the length of time or the required “accuracy” of your touch screen abilities to just access your phone book and pull up your stored numbers. With the EnV2, it is so much easier to quickly pull up numbers. Mostly because the keyboard is always “visible” and you have up and down keys to scroll through numbers. With the Voyager, you have to ask for the number keys to be displayed and due to the lack of arrow up and down keys you have to use finger swipes on the touch screen to scroll. This is quite tricky and at times annoying. You can solve all of this just by opening the Voyager, but you should be able to easily access your stored numbers much more easily when the phone is closed.

The EnV2 is a well thought out phone with all of the bells and whistles of the other LG phones and better functionality. You can’t go wrong with the phone. Buy with confidence.

This is a very nice phone. Call reception and battery life are excellent on the Cingular network. The iTunes features work fine but it won’t replace my iPod nano any time soon. This phone has a very solid feel to it. The SLVR is not without flaws but show me a phone that isn’t.
