If you’re looking for a phone that is the best value for your money, stop reading right here. This phone isn’t for you.
If, however, you’re looking for a functional phone that is attractive and garners a lot of attention from passersby and fashionistas alike, you’re in the right place.
The Motorola V3i DG is a great phone - it is a RAZR after all. Some people don’t like the RAZR because they think it’s been played out or overdone, but this phone is unique and has a definite “cool factor”. The phone’s features are a standard late 2005 or early 2006 featureset - there’s an MP3 player, a transflash slot, a camera (that could be a lot better, but that’s Motorola for you - it’s a phone), a video camera, support for real-song ringtones, and a nice set of screens.
If you’re looking for a device for e-mail, this probably is not your phone. If you like to text constantly and IM casually and you talk often, this is a great phone for you. My one gripe is that the speaker phone is of a low quality compared to the RAZR I had for Verizon. Other than that, it’s an excellently-crafted piece of work.
I highly recommend this phone (with the awesome-looking DG case).

I’ve had the phone only a short time but I have already fallen in love with it. This is a phone for grown ups. It feels every bit as sturdy as advertised. Not as slim as my old Motorola RAZR but still not what I would classify as bulky. It is not that easy to open one-handed, but it feels great while talking. The screen is super sharp and seems bigger than it is due to the excellent clarity. The keypad is well proportioned and my only complaint is that the navigation button could be more pronounced. It feels inset. I also could live without the “Go Online” key or the “Open CV” key. One other minor complaint is the dedicated PTT button, which so far I have no found a way to re-program. It can be disabled if you are not using the PTT function, but I wish i could use it for something else.

Battery

Recent purchase of NEW Motorola Standard Capacity Lithium-Ion Battery 780 mAh (Factory Original Battery, Designed And Built Specifically For The Motorola RAZR V3,V3a, V3C, V3M Cell Phone Models) was satisfactory. As soon as I got the battery, I charged it for 25hrs approx. with cell turned off all the time. It’s been giving me around 2-2.5 hrs talk time continuously after a full charge (Experimented) and more than 12 hrs. (18 hrs. approx.) without talk but cell flipped open sometimes for viewing time. Last battery would last for poor 4 hrs or even less, so I am comparatively satisfied. My friend got current Sony Mobile which would give him more than 5 hrs talk time continuuously, that pisses me off in a way. But, hey, 2-2.5hrs straight talk time and 18 hrs of single charged life is all you can expect from Motorola after all.

BLACKBERRY

I purchased this phone in August right after the Sunset version of the Blackberry Curve was released. It’s my first Blackberry and my first smart phone (I upgraded from a Motorola Razr). I really wanted to love this phone, but I don’t. Despite its sleek appearance and numerous cool features, this Crackberry is not at all what it’s cracked up to be (pun intended).

I ordered this from Amazon via Hassle-Free Cell on Monday and had the phone Friday using standard shipping. It was new and even had a fresh battery (manufacture date 8/2008); although manufactured for SE Asia the default language was English and everything works great. I liked my old Razr V3 but it was a little bulky; I loved my moto Pebl but it bit the dust after a nasty fall. The K1 combines the best of both those phones, plus adds a music player. It has a nice solid feel with a rubberized back and a very crisp, high-contrast display like the Pebl and unlike the Motorola Razr. One of the things I like about Motorola phones is that accessories using mini-USB work for all their phones, as far as I know. This includes Phone Tools software, stereo earbuds, chargers, etc. so I didn’t have to buy all that stuff over again. Call volume and quality is very good and the music player sounds great, although it is a bit quirky and limited and doesn’t have external music player control buttons like the CDMA version.

Okay, so it looks like a “calculator” from the front, but there’s so much more to it. I’ve had this phone for about 2 weeks, upgrading from the Motorola krazr. At first, I had to get used to the QWERTY keyboard, which is little compact, but pretty cool. The Fn key is handy for setting up to 10 short cuts. The directional pad is easier for even more shorcuts!
Battery life: lasts 2-3 days, lasts 1-2 days if frequently using vcast extras.

Charger

As an earlier review noted, plug in this charger and nothing happens. My Motorola RAZR doesn’t even see it. I ordered two; neither would charge my phone. (One of them rattled; something loose inside.) Contrary to what another review said, this charger is *not* the same as the one that came with my phone; though similar, it is not the same, and it has a different model number (see the label on the charger itself). I also ordered a car charger but I’m not going to risk using it on my phone. Did I return these items? No, I just threw them away, because at these prices, with shipping and handling both ways *not* refunded, I’d probably lose even more money returning them. (Too bad we can’t give a “0 star” rating.)
