I am not sure what the other reviewers are comparing this phone to, but I can say this is the best smartphone I have ever owned. I’ve been using the phone for four months. Here is what you should know about the phone:

1) Phone sports a beautiful 800 x 480 touch screen. The touch screen is very responsive compared to other touchscreen phones I’ve used, with the exception of the iPhone — which is the gold standard in touch responsiveness — but doesn’t have nearly as many features.

2) The Xperia is infinitely customizable. The panels allow you to quickly switch between home screens for Search, Facebook, Skype, Weather, Photo Slideshow and many more.

3) I also love Windows Mobile. The phone can do almost anything. All of the features of the most advanced smartphone are available; MMS, Video recording, File Explorer, Micro SD Card, Cut & Paste, WiFi, Stereo Bluetooth and the best Exchange E-Mail integration available.

First, I bought this phone thinking that it would resolve the problems I was having with my treo 750…HA! It has created more problems than solutions. Touch screen doesn’t respond as you would expect and as stated in other reviews the widgets are small and sometimes hard to manage.

(AT&T) Samsung EPIX i907 cell Phone Review

My priority was a phone that would work with our Exchange 2007 system (without installing the Blackberry server and server certs), provide WiFi, let me dial one-handed without looking at the phone, and have usual fun goodies. In addition, I use a database app for the PPC, and this one handles it fine (Windcows Mobile comes in two versions - Smartphone and PPC; most phones run under the Smartphone edition but the EPIX adds the required touchscreen and stylus for full PPC apps).

Pros: Loaded with features: GPS, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, Exchange 7 compatible, WiFi, excellent voice dialing recognition, nice touchpad, great battery life, small enough to fit in the pocket, and keyboard allows one-handed dialing with some practice. Keys are small, but separation is adequate. Provides the higher-end WinMobile PPC rather than SmartPhone OS.

Let me preface this review by saying I was upgrading from a Verizon Treo 700w, which had a measly 32 MB of RAM and an unreliable docking connector.

Windows Mobile phones are right now the most flexible phones in that they have thousands of software titles written for them. iPhone comes in close second on this front, but only when jailbroken.

I almost went for the Samsung Epix (also on AT&T) instead due to its QWERTY keyboard on the front of the phone, but it was just too hard to pass up 256 MB of RAM, beautiful VGA screen, and a better (bur not ideal) connector scheme. Also, HTC phones have the wonderful benefit of having the myriad resources of “xda-developers” to provide new ROMs with bugs fixed and added capabilities. Also, Android may well be fully running on this phone in the next year as a result.
