Nokia N97 Unlocked Phone Review

This phone is a TRUE smart phone OS which means you can download apps for it such as VPN software to connect to your office network and apps such as PUTTY or RDP clients to remote control real computers at the house/office. With 3G speeds the potential is limitless.

Now for the bad. Nokia decided to use the old ARM II CPU found in the N85, 95, etc. phones but increased the clockspeed (mhz) slightly. We were looking forward to the new TI cpu which would have provided much better speeds, at the cost of battery life. They also stuck with 128mb ram with about 80mb available after boot up. I don’t know about you but after I load up all of my apps and get cranking, I eat that up. I was able to notice some slow down in the pre-build when I:
-opened up several websites w/ flash content
-ran the music player
-opened up ‘widget’ applications
-tried basic functionality

Most users will probably never do that. If you are a power user, then you probably already know about the Samsung Omnia HD which boasts of similer features, but also the new faster CPU and dedicated GFX chip which means you can play Ipod type 3d games with ease. The final point is with the potentially underpowered CPU, you will not be able to play the super high resolution videos the Samsung can play.

Finally this phone has the slower 3G speeds which don’t reach 7mbps, will you need 7mbps? Probably not. I think for 99% of users, the current 3G speeds offered by this phone are fine.

T-Mobile Sidekick Phone, Black (T-Mobile) Review

i scanned some of the other reviews and there is a lot of product information available on this page, so i will try not to be redundant to what is already been said/listed here.

i was a sidekick user for years (sk 2 and sk 3), but displeased with a lot of aspects. so i switched to blackberry. well, having lost my blackberry, for whatever reason, i took a look at the sidekick 08.

a lot of my complaints/issues with previous sidekicks have been fixed. the size and thinness (and related to that the ergonomics, at least for me, the way it fits in my hands) is a vast improvement. the browser seems to be improved over past versions, though it is not 3G, it does operate on the same data network that the sk3 did, and i’m not sure if it’s the browser or the network that has improved, but the speed and overall quality (pulling up webpages like myspace used to be a nightmare) has improved. (these are just a few of many improvements, i’m trying not to make this into a laundry list.)

Unlocked RIM Blackberry Bold 9000 Review

I “smuggled” this phone from Canada a few months back since Rogers and Rim have made it available for about six months now and I unlocked it then slipped the Cingular SIM card w/o any hassles. ( You have to use a “3G” SIM card from Cingular or AT&T to reliably use the data features / TMobile SIM’s typically meet this requirement and have been for years )

+ The best keyboard we’ve ever used on a Blackberry or any other smart phone from Motorola Q or Nokia E71 and anything from HTC.

+ A screen that compares to HDTV and the brightest Blackberry screen ever made.

(T-Mobile) BlackBerry Curve 8320 Phone, Sunset Version Review

I purchased this phone in August right after the Sunset version of the Blackberry Curve was released. It’s my first Blackberry and my first smart phone (I upgraded from a Motorola Razr). I really wanted to love this phone, but I don’t. Despite its sleek appearance and numerous cool features, this Crackberry is not at all what it’s cracked up to be (pun intended).

Motorola KRZR K1 Unlocked Cell Phone with 2 MP Camera, MP3/Video Player Review

I ordered this from Amazon via Hassle-Free Cell on Monday and had the phone Friday using standard shipping. It was new and even had a fresh battery (manufacture date 8/2008); although manufactured for SE Asia the default language was English and everything works great. I liked my old Razr V3 but it was a little bulky; I loved my moto Pebl but it bit the dust after a nasty fall. The K1 combines the best of both those phones, plus adds a music player. It has a nice solid feel with a rubberized back and a very crisp, high-contrast display like the Pebl and unlike the Motorola Razr. One of the things I like about Motorola phones is that accessories using mini-USB work for all their phones, as far as I know. This includes Phone Tools software, stereo earbuds, chargers, etc. so I didn’t have to buy all that stuff over again. Call volume and quality is very good and the music player sounds great, although it is a bit quirky and limited and doesn’t have external music player control buttons like the CDMA version.

(T-Mobile) Samsung Behold t919 Phone, Brushed Espresso Review

The Samsung Behold to me is considered a high end PDA/Smart phone without the ability to edit office documents. The best thing about this phone is that it doesn’t have Window Mobile 6.1. Every time I see the window MS logo on a cell phone I just want to run for the hills. Anyways, thank goodness this is strictly Samsung. This brand is known for churning out exquisite top notch phones.

This phone is a touch screen based phone with only 3 keys on the bottom. You get a gorgeous 3 inch screen with 262K Colors where the vibrant colors just really POP. You get access to emails, 3G, Web Browser, IM, Text, Multimedia Messaging, etc. The only thing is I felt the web browser was limited. You have a 3 inch screen and Samsung should really take advantage of it and have it take up the entire screen. If you’re on YouTube you get to watch the videos but even when in full screen mode it doesn’t take up the whole screen. Of course nothing beats the iPhone’s Safari Browser. I must admit the Google Android G1 phone on T-Mobile comes pretty close to being a flawless browser. Despite the touch screen I feel it didn’t flow as fluid as the G1 and iPhone did but great nonetheless. I’ve only had the phone for 1 day. I will test it out more and revise my review. I think the haptic feedback makes me feel the phone isn’t operating as responsive as it should because I really don’t need the device to vibrant whenever I confirm a selection. The 3G browser just recently launched with T-Mobile so don’t expect it be spectacular but it does operate just fine.

This is a very nice phone. Call reception and battery life are excellent on the Cingular network. The iTunes features work fine but it won’t replace my iPod nano any time soon. This phone has a very solid feel to it. The SLVR is not without flaws but show me a phone that isn’t.
